Make your account more secure with two-factor authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is now available to all accounts. This adds an extra layer of security ensuring your customer and business data is well-protected.

What is 2FA?

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security on top of your user passwords. This means that even if one or more of your passwords are stolen or accidentally disclosed, rogue third-parties are still unable to log in to your accounts and see your customer data.

You're probably already using a similar system for your email accounts and other digital services (if you're not, you should be!) and in it works in the same way: you're asked to enter a unique code when you log in or perform some account-sensitive action (e.g. changing your password).


The authentication codes are generated from an application on your computer or mobile phone such as the Google Authenticator app which you then type in right after your password as shown above. 

Why should I bother?

For the exact same reasons you might put an extra chain lock on your front door in addition to your regular lock: if one is compromised, you have a backup.

Even with all the best will in the world, accidents happen to the best of us. With 2FA enabled for your user accounts you have the added security that, in the event a password is accidentally shared or brute-forced:

  1. Your sensitive business data cannot be viewed by third parties without the additional code
  2. Your customers' privacy (and your reputation) is not compromised or leaked without the additional code
